“I never let my schooling interfere with my education.”- Mark Twain
It is the Educational mission of Eco Eden to provide a solid foundation in academic, athletic and experiential learning while cultivating intellectual and spiritual inquiry and a deep sense of connectedness to the land. The conservation and stewardship of wild ecosystems, as well as the creation of regenerative food, fuel and shelter systems, will be the focus of environmental studies. The visual and performing arts will be an integral part of a comprehensive core curriculum through which students of all ages will be encouraged to think with creativity, originality and playfulness about their relationship with, and responsibility for, a rapidly changing world.
As an active, healthy mind and Spirit can thrive only in an active, healthy body, movement will be woven throughout the daily curriculum.
In addition to the development of active international exchange, scholarship and outreach programs, Eco Eden will serve as a resource for local and regional education and environmental initiatives. Community residents will also be encouraged to share their experience, expertise and wisdom by serving as teachers and mentors.
“Let children walk with nature, let them see the beautiful blending and communion of death and life, their joyous inseparable unity, as taught in woods and meadows, plains and mountains and streams of our blessed star, and they will learn that death is stingless indeed, and as beautiful as life.” – John Muir
